We HIGHLY suggest installing the 2-ohm version on all stock radios. The slight decrease in resistance will work without any issues, and you should get a small increase in volume as well! A 4-ohm load is suggested only if recommended by your aftermarket amplifier. Do I need an amp? No, but it’s truly difficult to get better sound when only upgrading speakers. However, we all have different expectations. My suggestion is to swap speakers first, ride, then decide if you truly need an amp. Remember, the speakers on your bike were made by the lowest bidder….
